Deep cleaning your home between the seasons will allow both you and your family to reset. This routine deep clean can reassure you that everything is being well maintained and to stay on top of anything that needs to be repaired or replaced. During these maintenance checks and cleans, don’t skip the highs and lows of your home exterior. Clearing out your gutter and having professionals fit concrete gutter lining can help to keep the rain water flowing out of your property.

If you have not performed a clear out and check on your home guttering system before, we have some guidance which may help.

Cleaning Your Guttering

If you notice your gutters are sagging, water is spilling over the sides, or plant growth or birds are nesting in your gutters, it’s time to clean them. However, if you are not confident or experienced with ladders or have no one to work with you, look for a professional to complete the job for you.

Water needs to be able to easily flow through your gutter, so use safe gloves or a narrow garden trowel to scoop out what debris you can. Once it’s looking clear, wash your gutter down with your hose and if any stubborn debris remains, try using a stiff brush.

Unblocking a Downpipe

If water is still refusing to flow easily after cleaning your gutter, you may have a blockage to clear in the downpipe. It may just require your hose to be pointed down there to push out the blockage with more water. If this doesn’t work, consider using a plumber’s auger.

Once your gutter is clear, you can begin to look for obvious signs of damage, where a repair may be needed.

Fitting Concrete Gutter Lining

Our team are installers of concrete gutter liners, using a thick grade EPDM seamless liner, which offers a 20-50 year life expectancy. We take preparation seriously to provide the best quality of service. All gutters are cleaned of debris and previous repair solutions, to allow the same water capacity as when the gutter was installed. We also treble seal all corner and mitred joints using an overlap system, which will help to prevent the liner from leaking. Then, specially fabricated outlets are used to feed through the downpipe hole of the concrete gutter to check that no water is able to penetrate anywhere.

Gutters are an essential part of your home’s structure, so when it comes to fitting the liner, we do so with care. We don’t simply lay the liner in your gutter and call it a job well done. Instead, we strip away many rows of tiles, so there is room for us to lay a large liner up to 2 metres wide along the entire length of your concrete gutter. This should leave you with dry gutters and bedrooms for a reliable solution.
